Activated Charcoal 5L 1

Activated Coconut Carbon for Distillation 5 Litre Treatment Pack

€2,30

This activated coconut carbon is supplied in a measured pack designed to treat approximately 5 litres of liquid, making it ideal for small batch distillation, test runs, and flavour adjustment where precise dosing is important.

Produced from steam activated coconut shells, this carbon has a highly porous structure that allows it to effectively adsorb compounds that negatively affect taste, aroma, and clarity in water and spirits. It is particularly well suited for refining neutral spirits in small volumes.

Coconut based activated carbon provides better adsorption performance than stone based alternatives, delivering smoother filtration and more consistent results. The controlled grain size supports even liquid flow and reliable contact during filtration.

With a low ash content, the carbon does not leach unwanted residues into the liquid, helping maintain a clean, mild final profile. The 5 litre portion size removes the need for weighing or measuring, making it especially convenient for beginners and experimental batches.

Ideal For

  • Small batch spirit filtration

  • Neutral spirit refinement

  • Test and trial distillation runs

  • Water filtration in small volumes

  • Bench scale distillation setups

Directions for Use

Rinse the carbon thoroughly before use. Place the carbon in a strainer and pour hot water over it, then rinse under running tap water at approximately 20°C for around three minutes, turning until the water runs clear. Allow excess water to drain fully.

The carbon may be placed in a fine mesh bag and submerged directly in the liquid for contact filtration, or used in a small filtration column. Longer contact times improve adsorption efficiency. Lower liquid temperatures improve results, with optimal performance around 10°C.

Frequently asked questions

What do I do if my order is delivered and it is damaged?

Contact us straight away. All our orders are packaged carefully but unfortunately sometimes packages do get damaged in transport. Unlike some other homebrew and glass suppliers, if this happens we will replace the damaged goods free of charge.

Where are your products manufactured?

As an Irish Company we take pride in supporting Irish manufacturing businesses. Unfortunately we can't get everything made in Ireland so we work on an As Local As Possible principle. This means we get everything from as close to Sligo, Ireland as possible. Sometimes this is Poland or England or France or Scotland. You can always find the country of manufacture in the product description.

When will I get my order?

We dispatch all our orders within 2 days. Our parcels are shipped with tracking by An Post or DPD. Once handed over delivery usually take 2-3 days.

Can I return my order?

We do accept returns with full refunds once the product is undamaged. If the products are damaged in return transit you will be refunded the purchase amount minus the cost of damaged goods.

How much does shipping cost?

Our Standard Tracked Shipping in Ireland is €7 or free on orders over €75 but smaller items (i.e. yeast packets, bubblers, syphon tubes) qualify as "small orders" and are €3.95 to ship or free over €30
