Activated Carbon 25L

Activated Coconut Carbon for Distillation 25 Litre Treatment Pack

$8.00

This activated coconut carbon is supplied in measured bags designed to treat approximately 25 litres of liquid, making it ideal for home distillation and filtration projects where precise quantities are required.

Produced from specially selected coconut shells and activated using steam treatment, this carbon has a highly porous structure that allows it to effectively adsorb compounds that negatively affect taste, aroma, and clarity. It is particularly well suited to adjusting the flavour profile of neutral spirits and improving water quality.

Compared to stone based carbons, coconut carbon offers superior adsorption performance, smoother filtration, and more consistent results. Its controlled grain size ensures even flow through filtration columns or contact beds, helping achieve a cleaner and more balanced final liquid.

The carbon has a low ash content, meaning it does not leach unwanted residues during use, contributing to a cleaner tasting end product.

Each bag is portioned for convenience and consistency, removing the need to measure from bulk supplies.

Directions for Use

Before use, rinse the carbon thoroughly. Place the carbon in a strainer and pour hot water over it, then rinse under running tap water at approximately 20°C for around three minutes, turning the carbon until the water runs clear. Allow excess water to drain before use.

The carbon can be used in a filtration column or placed in a mesh bag and submerged directly in the liquid. Contact time is critical for effective adsorption. Lower liquid temperatures improve performance, with optimal results around 10°C.

Frequently asked questions

What do I do if my order is delivered and it is damaged?

Contact us straight away. All our orders are packaged carefully but unfortunately sometimes packages do get damaged in transport. Unlike some other homebrew and glass suppliers, if this happens we will replace the damaged goods free of charge.

This means we get everything from as close to Sligo, Ireland as possible. Sometimes this is Poland or England or France or Scotland. You can always find the country of manufacture in the product description.

We dispatch all our orders within 2 days. Our parcels are shipped with tracking by An Post or DPD. Once handed over delivery usually take 2-3 days.

Can I return my order?

We do accept returns with full refunds once the product is undamaged. If the products are damaged in return transit you will be refunded the purchase amount minus the cost of damaged goods.

How much does shipping cost?

Our Standard Tracked Shipping in Ireland is €6 or free on orders over €75 but smaller items (i.e. yeast packets, bubblers, syphon tubes) qualify as "small orders" and are €2.95 to ship or free over €30
