Nelson Sauvin Hop Pellets 100g

Nelson Sauvin Hop Pellets 100g

€9,75

Nelson Sauvin is a distinctive New Zealand dual-purpose hop named after the Sauvignon Blanc grape, reflecting its unusual fruity and vinous character. Developed in New Zealand and released in 2000, it has become a favourite among craft and home brewers looking for something more expressive and unconventional.

Expect a complex combination of white grape, gooseberry, tropical fruit and subtle earthy notes, with a character that can be quite pronounced when used generously. Nelson Sauvin works as an aroma, flavour and bittering hop, with its relatively low cohumulone content contributing a smooth bitterness.

Similar & Substitute Hops

Nelson Sauvin has a fairly unique character, but these varieties can provide similar fruity, tropical or wine-like qualities:

  • Hallertau Blanc – white grape, gooseberry and wine-like characteristics
  • Nectaron – tropical fruit, stone fruit and citrus
  • Motueka – bright tropical and citrus character with a softer profile
  • Strata – complex tropical, fruity and slightly dank character

Beer Styles

Nelson Sauvin works particularly well in:

  • American Pale Ale
  • Pale Ale
  • IPA
  • New Zealand Pale Ale
  • New Zealand IPA
  • Session IPA
  • Wheat Beer
  • Other fruit-forward craft beers

It is particularly effective as a late-boil, whirlpool or dry-hop addition, where its distinctive grape-like and tropical character can be highlighted. It can also be used for bittering thanks to its relatively smooth bitterness.
